Day 1: Outward journey
The easiest way to get to Gautefall is by ferry from Hirsthals (Denmark) to Kristiansand or Larvik.
It’s best to book an overnight stay somewhere near Aalborg.
If you’d rather not travel by boat (apart from a very short stretch), you can also drive via Sweden; in that case, we recommend booking an overnight stay near Copenhagen.
You can also book the crossing and accommodation through our partner, Modern Vikings/

Day 2: Arrival in Gautefall
After the final few kilometres past woods and lakes, you’ll arrive in Gautefall, a mountain village in Drangedal, right in the heart of Telemark. This is where we’ll be based for the week: a modern mountain lodge with a terrace and views of the lake. In summer, Gautefall is a paradise for walking, fishing and cycling.
Unpacking our luggage, getting our bikes ready and getting to know each other.
In the evening, we light the wood fire and serve a hearty Norwegian-style meal.
You can find more photos of the accommodation here.
Day 3: Along the coast
One of our most beautiful routes. We drive to Kragerø and cycle along the archipelago of the Norwegian Riviera. We take the ferry across to the islands: Jomfruland, a national park with a horizon made up entirely of water, or Skåtøy, with a café by the jetty.

Day 4: Moose and bear safari – exploring the area around the hotel
The area around Villa Fregn is renowned for its wildlife. There are even bears living in the vast forests.
During the moose and bear safari, we set out at sunrise or sunset in search of moose and other wildlife, such as red deer and roe deer. And who knows, we might even spot a bear. The trip is undertaken in 4x4 vehicles.
During the trip, you’ll be treated to a cup of coffee or some juice.
Don’t forget to bring your camera!
This excursion is included in the programme.
For the rest of the day, you’re free to go for a walk or go on an excursion in the wider area. You might, for example, consider a visit to the plateau or the local waterfall. All the information is available at the hotel.
Day 5: Packrafting or a rest day
On Day 5, you can choose between a rest day or a Packraft adventure.
A unique experience which, thanks to our equipment and extra staff, we are also able to make accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Packrafting has been gaining popularity in Belgium for several years now, but the Norwegian countryside adds an extra touch to an introductory packrafting experience.
Packrafts are extremely stable boats that are somewhere between rafts and canoes, and the are the ideal way to explore nature to the full from the water. For this excursion, we provide double boats, which are particularly stable, and the necessary staff to assist with the transfer to the boat.
The excursion is led by an experienced guide and is aimed at thrill-seekers who love the water.
This excursion is not included It is included in the standard programme and can be booked on the spot, subject to a minimum of 4 participants.

Would you rather take it easy today? No problem! Going for a walk or exploring the area by car is always an option. There are countless places nearby that are well worth a visit. Take Idre, for example, where you can spot reindeer.
Day 7: Bushcraft
This day is all about experiencing life in the great outdoors. We couldn’t have imagined a better way to round off this trip.
During a bushcraft taster session, we’ll learn how to make a fire ourselves and spend some cosy time together around the fire whilst grilling some delicious sausages.
Simply delicious.
Norwegian life at its best.
This will be a brilliant way to look back on the many adventures we’ve been lucky enough to experience.
This activity is included in the programme.

Day 8: Return journey
On this final day, you’ll travel back to Belgium from Norway.
Here, you can choose to spend the night on the ferry again, or you can opt for a return journey with one or two overnight stays.
Would you like some help with working out the journey there and back – we’d be happy to help you with that .
This service is not included in the price.
Day 9: Home
If you’ve chosen to spend the night on the ferry or to stay overnight en route, you’ll arrive back home in Belgium a day later.
It’s time to start reminiscing.
