Still Us Weekend
It’s us again
A proper two-day break, together with other couples who know exactly what we mean.
The pilot edition is fully booked.
When was the last time you did something together?
No plans, no worries, just the two of us?
Day in, day out, you’re there for your child who needs care. That takes everything – including a bit of your relationship. Not because the love is fading, but because there’s no room left for it.
This weekend is for both of you: to slow down, have a chat or simply enjoy some quiet time.
What is the Still Us Weekend?
No therapy, no obligations, but a carefully designed programme featuring guided activities, relaxation and genuine time to spend with one another. In a small group, with carers who understand what it means to care for one another.
What can you expect?
Sharing an experience that brings you closer together
Space for connection, intimacy and sexuality, at your own pace
Reflecting on what often goes unspoken
Sharing with others in the same situation who can relate
What is a typical day like?
For example, the programme is tailored to the group.
Morning: a leisurely breakfast and a walk with plenty of time for a chat
Afternoon: lunch, free time and an activity together
Evening: Sharing a meal with fellow sufferers and a casual chat round the campfire

Support
By Els De Geyter and Birgit De Clercq
Els De Geyter is a carer herself, a relationship coach and an intimacy expert, and researches the impact of long-term care on relationships.
Birgit De Clercq is a life and relationship coach who helps you create space for connection – with yourself and with others.
We are two women, but we recognise that men and women often experience the pressures of caregiving differently. We take this into account.
This weekend of experiences is brought to you by Baerekracht VZW
Why take part?
You give so much to others. This weekend, you’ll be giving something back to each other.
To slow down and let go together for a moment
To really give each other our full attention — without distractions or obligations
To remind you of who you are as a couple, apart from your roles as carers
To realise that you’re not the only ones — sharing with others in the same situation brings a sense of recognition and relief
Because the support team ensures safety, peace of mind and respect — both emotionally and in terms of relationships
Because we’re here before, during and after the weekend

Our relationship’s going quite well. So is this weekend for us too?
Yes. It doesn’t matter what state your relationship is in: good, rocky or somewhere in between. The weekend is there so you can be ‘us’ again for a while.
Should we talk about our problems in the group?
No. You don’t have to do anything. You share whatever you want, whether with your partner or with the group. Many couples find that simply meeting others in the same situation who understand what they’re going through is a comfort in itself.
Is the weekend also about intimacy and sexuality?
There’s room for it, at your own pace and always just between the two of you. You don’t need to talk about it in the group.
We’re having trouble arranging childcare for our child. Can we still come?
Childcare is essential if you’re to get away for a bit. Please feel free to tell us what’s making it difficult, and we’ll help you find a solution.
How much does it cost and what’s included?
The following weekend costs €895 per couple, including VAT. This includes two nights’ accommodation in a double room with an en-suite bathroom, all meals, activities and guidance.
How do we register?
We’ll put you on the waiting list. This will be followed by a brief intake interview lasting no more than 20 minutes, either by telephone or online. After the intake interview, you’ll be sent the registration form.
