On the edge of the unspoilt Fulufjället lies Villa Fregn: a small place surrounded by magnificent nature, with plenty of thoughtful touches to make it the perfect spot for a getaway together. No clinical facilities, just a warm holiday atmosphere.
The place
Villa Fregn is a small boutique hotel in Ljørdalen, in eastern Norway near the Swedish border, on the edge of Fulufjället National Park — surrounded by woodland, water and wide open plains.
Bart and Ellen have been running the place since late 2022, with one ambition: to bring nature and good food together in a place where everyone is welcome. No one is treated differently here; you simply join in together: a real experience for the whole family.

The accommodation
The new building has six rooms with a lift: five are partially accessible, and one is fully adapted, with grab rails in the toilet and shower and a shower seat. A lift system takes you inside, into the restaurant and out onto the terrace — the ramps are too steep to manage with arm strength alone, so a helping hand is always needed for this. Nothing feels clinical: the adaptations blend seamlessly into the atmosphere, ensuring it remains a genuine holiday retreat.
You can view the rooms below in 3D.
The activities
The aids are woven into the activities themselves — for each adventure, careful thought has been given to what is needed to take part. Three highlights.
On the water — packrafting
A packraft is a lightweight, stable inflatable boat. No experience is needed: with a bit of help, you’ll glide out onto the lake or river, through a landscape you’d otherwise never see from so close. Boats with a high backrest, a low entry point and a lifting strap make getting in and out comfortable.

About the site — quad biking
On a quad bike, you can explore forest tracks, open plains and rugged terrain that would otherwise remain inaccessible — an adventurous way to experience the vastness of the north. An extra-reinforced backrest ensures that even those with limited core stability can ride safely and comfortably, accompanied by an experienced guide.

On foot (or on wheels) — walking in Fulufjället
From an accessible visitor centre With an adapted toilet, the routes follow (semi-)paved gravel paths, which are accessible to a wheelchair fitted with a front attachment. Take your time to enjoy the peace and space of the north — and with a little extra help, even more routes become accessible.
